Tension Leveler for Steel Coil

The tension leveler (tension‑bending straightener) is core processing equipment for continuous strip processing lines. By combining strip tension with repeated alternating bending deformation, it eliminates complex 3D flatness defects of metal coils, homogenizes internal residual stress, optimizes strip flatness and mechanical properties. 1.Working Principle

The tension leveler adopts double‑bending & double‑straightening single‑drive mechanical architecture.

 

 

Tension stabilization: Inlet and outlet tension rolls build stable strip tension and minimize tension fluctuation; tension is further amplified through the roll cluster.

 

Alternating bending deformation: Two groups of upper and lower bending assemblies generate repeated positive‑negative bending on the travelling strip. Residual stress across strip width is evenly redistributed to eliminate local uneven longitudinal elongation, the root cause of flatness defects.

 

Final leveling correction: Follow‑up leveling roll sets perform final shape calibration. The strip’s internal stress field becomes uniform, realizing stable target flatness and improved material formability.

 

Tension Leveler for Steel Coil removes typical strip flatness defects: unilateral wave, bilateral wave, center wave, two‑edge rib wave, camber, buckling and latent shape imperfections. Such defects originate from improper roll contour and roll‑gap deviation during preceding rolling, bringing uneven width‑wise longitudinal extension and disordered rolling stress to coiled strips.
